I am a freelance journalist and travel writer with 20 years of experience in journalism and writing. Born in Finland, I have also lived in London, in India and in Switzerland. I have a degree in journalism and I have worked in radio and in newspapers before I started writing online.

When living in London from 1996 to 2005, I worked as a Producer in the BBC World Service and later as a correspondent to the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation (YLE). I started to write for my local newspaper in Finland at the age of 18, and I continue to write for magazines, newspapers and online publications in both English and Finnish. In the last five years I have written mainly about travel.

After nearly ten years of working and living in London, I travelled to Mysore, South India, to study ashtanga yoga in the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute (now called Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute). I ended up spending three and a half years in India and around Asia, writing, studying and travelling.

My first book was published in 2009 in Finnish as Kahvia ja guruja eli kolme vuotta Intiassa (Coffee and gurus: three years in India) by Basam Books (Finland). My second travel book Moottoripyörällä Himalajalle (Motorbiking in the Himalayas) was published in 2011. My first ebook, South India for Women Travellers: How to Survive and Enjoy Your Trip is out now. Check out my blog Indian Travel Journey for a collection of India travel stories and travel tips from my three years of India travels.

In 2009 I was authorized by the KPJAYI to teach ashtanga yoga, and I have taught in the UK, in Singapore and in Switzerland. I am also a qualified massage therapist and aromatherapist, and I write about natural home remedies for The Untrained Housewife. Check out my Google+ profile!
